Key takeaways
- Every UK online casino must be licensed by the Gambling Commission.
- Find the operator name and account number in the casino's footer.
- Search the Commission's public register and check the domain is listed.
- Unlicensed casinos have none of the UK's player protections.
Five steps to check a licence
- Scroll to the casino's footer. UK licensees must say they're licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission, with their account number and a link to their register entry.
- Note the operator name and account number. The operator is often a company name rather than the brand, such as LC International Limited for Coral.
- Open the public register. Go to the Gambling Commission website and search the business register by name or account number.
- Check the status and activities. The licence should be active and cover remote casino activity.
- Check the domain. The register lists the trading names and website domains the licensee uses. The site you're on should be among them.

Why the licence matters
A Great Britain licence means the casino must follow UK rules: the 10x wagering cap, the slot stake limits, the credit card ban, age and identity checks, deposit limits, and membership of GAMSTOP. It must also offer an independent dispute service if you have a complaint it can't resolve. An unlicensed site offers none of that, and the Commission can't help you if something goes wrong.
Warning signs of an unlicensed casino
- It advertises itself as "not on GAMSTOP".
- It accepts credit cards or crypto from UK players.
- It offers wagering above 10x, or bonuses that mix sport and casino.
- It lets you play without checking your age and identity.
- Its footer shows only an overseas licence.
We never list or link to sites like these. Every casino in our casino reviews and on our UK gambling sites page holds an active UK licence.
Sister sites and shared licences
Many brands share one licence. Coral and Ladbrokes both trade under LC International Limited's account 54743. That matters for self-exclusion: excluding with a licensee normally covers all the brands it runs.
Sources and checks
Checked 3 October 2026 by Ryan Jessop. Offer terms were read on each casino's promotion pages; licences were confirmed on the Gambling Commission register.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I find a casino's licence number?
In the site footer. UK licensees must show their account number and link to their register entry.
Is a Malta or Curaçao licence enough for UK players?
No. To offer gambling to people in Great Britain, an operator needs a Gambling Commission licence.
What if a casino isn't on the register?
Don't deposit. It isn't licensed to serve UK players and you won't have UK protections.
